All medical consultations and your medical record are strictly confidential and will not be shared to a third party without your consent – except where that consent is implicit (as in referrals to other practitioners) or as we are required by law (you will no doubt be surprised to know that Medicare legislation requires doctors to provide your medical records to Medicare if so requested).
At times the Privacy Act complicates communication of medical information to interested parties. Please be mindful that family members cannot be advised of your medical situation without your specific authority.
